Beautiful island of Hvar, attractive bay Stiniva, spacious jetty for learning mooring and maneuvering with the boat, quiet beach for spending free moments, are just some of the arguments why to choose A-DMC NIKAIA sailing school.

The elementary sailing course programme consists of the essential knowledge and skills you can acquire on sailing. During the course the theoretical skills o the sailing essentials, the sail aerodynamics, navigation skills, maneuvering with engine and sails, safety on the sea, etc are acquired.

 

 

 

Full immersion beginners’ class is something more than just learning the technique of sailing. You would live by the sea and with the sea… Besides sailing we will tech you about “living on the sea”, fishing and cooking traditional meals, all in enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere.

   

COURSE

Day 1.

  • Meeting in Hvar with the agency representative
  • Getting to know other participants and instructors
  • Going to Stiniva and getting accommodation there
  • Introductory lecture, handing out manuals
  • Going to the sea, familiarizing with the elementary terminology
  • Casting fishing nets
  • Dinner, grill and hanging around together

Day 2.

  • Breakfast
  • Theory – bases of sailing, directions in relation to wind – knot practicing
  • Snack before going to the sea
  • Going to the sea, sailing directions – sailing in side wind and into the wind
  • Folding of sails and putting sailing equipment in order
  • Squids or octopuses fishing
  • Dinner – Gregada (typical fish stew of Hvar)

Day 3.

  • Breakfast
  • Theory – bases of sailing, directions in relation to wind – knot practicing
  • Snack before going to the sea
  • Going to the sea, sailing directions – exercising on the sea
  • Folding of sails and putting sailing equipment in order
  • Casting long line and other nets
  • Dinner – Brujet (fish stew)

Day 4.

  • Breakfast
  • Theory – sail boat maneuvering
  • Snack before going to the sea
  • Going to the sea, practicing in marina, mooring + rescue from the water
  • Folding of sails and putting sailing equipment in order
  • Finding limpets, crabs and picking wild grown vegetables in the cove
  • Cooking, dinner, etc…

Day 5.

  • Breakfast
  • Theory – bases of navigation and meteorology
  • Going to the sea, navigational sailing to the island of Vis
  • Night in Vis or Komiža (or some other optional destination)

Day 6.

  • Breakfast
  • Sailing. Return to Stiniva
  • Farewell dinner and diploma presentation

Day 7.

  • Breakfast
  • Departure

NOTES:

A-DMC NIKAIA sailing school in accordance with its levels, prepares its course attendants both theoretically and practically for undergoing for examinations for the purpose of obtaining the SKIPPER license. As required, it arranges the examinations in the Port Authority in Split.

PROGRAM

Day 1.
ARRIVAL TO HVAR

Welcome drink in the afternoon/evening where You will be introduced to Your guide and as well as get the opportunity to get know better all members of the team and the group, be informed about the program and make arrangements for the following day.

Day 2.
SAILING TO VIS ISLAND

Daily activity: apox.4 h sailing + 2 h for lunch, snorkeling & swimming10:00 Sailing to island Vis.

We will sail in one of the best parts of Adriatic, and favorite destinations of people who love the sea and islands.This tour is all about the sailing, poetry of movement as many would call it. It is not easy to tell precise itinerary of this trip, because we leave the choice to the nature, letting the weather and winds to guide us. One we can tell you for shore: you will see beautiful places, beaches, maybe even a cave, enjoy in best local food and company, hear about the interesting history of our attractive islands Hvar and Vis, traditional way of living on those islands and much more… Or you can just enjoy the music of the winds, waves and warmth of the sun and dance of dolphins passing by…We will stop for swimming and snorkeling (gear is included), so you can explore the underwater world while taking the break…We return back to Hvar around 6pm..

Day 3.
HIKING
Daily activity: apox. 4.5 h hiking + 2h lunch and swimming
Tour starts from Hvar town. We will climb to hill above the town, aprox 230m above the sea level; you will have a wonderful view of all the surrounding islands. The hiking tour leads you through olive groves and vineyards following ancient paths treaded by locals who still cultivate their land in the same way their ancestors used to do.Since we continue along seaside there would be chance for swimming in one of beautiful bays on the way. The hiking trail ends in Hvar.We return back to Hvar around 5pm (depends how long we stay on the beach).

Day 4.
SEA KAYAKING
Daily activity: apox. 3 h kayaking + 2 h lunch, snorkeling/swimming09:00 Sea-kayaking.
The starting point of the kayaking tour is the town of Hvar. You set off to the group of small islands called the Pakleni. The origin of the name goes back to old days when the islands were the main source of rosin for local shipbuilders. Today, just like then, the islands are covered with thick pine woods providing refreshing shade even during the hottest summer days. Besides the well-known beach of Palmižana, the route through narrow straits and along the islands reveals to you small hidden pebble beaches where you can enjoy the privilege of having, at least temporarily, a beach of your own. There are a few pleasant bars and restaurants next to the sea offering cold drinks and good food, where we would have our lunch. Along with tasteful food and home made wine you can enjoy in the peacefulness and the beauty of the scenery.Snorkelling gear is included, so you can enjoy beautiful underwater scenery of Pakleni archipelago.We return to Hvar around 2:00 pm.

Day 5.
SAILING TO BRAC ISLAND AND GOLDEN HORN BEACH
Daily activity: apox.4 h sailing + 2 h for lunch, snorkeling & swimming and other activities10:00 am sailing from Hvar to island of Brac.
We would visit several small bays, Bol, and famous Golden Horn beach, where we will stop so you could have more fun doing wind surfing or even kite surfing. We return back to Hvar at 6pm.

Day 6.
ROCK CLIMBING (guided city tour, or jeep tour instead of climbing)*
Daily activity: apox. 3.5 h
16:30 Rock climbing. You would learn about gear which you are going to use and basic climbing techniques. If there are experienced climbers in the group, they can choose other more demanding routes. After climbing you can relax your mussels, swimming in crystal clear water… We return to Hvar by sunset around 8 pm.

Day 7.
DAY FOR RELAXING
Relax. Take a break, enjoy in morning cup of coffee on Main Square, explore Hvar town, take a swim, drink a glass of wine in one of the local bars, feel the atmosphere and enjoy Hvar town….

Day 8.
DEPARTURE
Breakfast and transfer to the port of Stari Grad. Ferry to Split.

Do not miss

For guests who don’t’ want to participate in Rock climbing we have two activities they can choose instead: GUIDED CITY TOUR – Hvar Toe tour with the guide who will explain you more abot the history, culture and architecture of the town. The tour takes aprox 1h-1.5h JEEP TOUR – OFFROAD tour through island. The tour takes aprox 3.5-4 hours. EQUIPMENT:Since this is active tour, it is necessary to have appropriate equipment: sports shoes or walking shoes, sports comfortable clothing, sunscreen, hat, water,
